Are Your Ads "Kid Test" Approved? A marketing theory by TallTreeAZ.com

You are listening to an 80's playlist on your favorite streaming audio platform and this comes on...

Here's an all-original "sample-only" piece for a local company I wrote and produced.  Are your current advertising efforts resonating with your audience?  Oftentimes, inexperienced marketing managers or business owners are sold hi-dollar "ad spend" campaigns based solely on the intriguing value of "impressions."  However, what I have found is that focusing less on impressions and more on the value of whether your advertising resonates with your audience is the key to growing your brand.  How many times have you seen a banner or a magazine ad and forgotten about it?  With an audio advertisement such as this sample, your audience is much more likely to recall the name and location of your company or brand.  In fact, after hearing it just a few times, they may even be signing it back to you too often;)  I won't bore you with stats on audio versus other advertising strategies but please feel free to Google the Google out of it to see for yourself.

Within my circle of musicians and audio friends, I have coined the phrase "The Kid Test."  This is where you play a mix or melody for a child and if they want to hear it again or sing it back periodically, it has a firm foundation to be highly effective.  This is because kids are extremely honest and they will deny something that does not give them immediate value or satisfaction.  As we grow into adults, our brains still behave in a similar manner however, we have the ability to focus on conversations that may not always bring us instant gratification.

I did my own Kid Test with this sample audio and played it for my 6 year old about 7 times on loud speakers in my studio office.  I then waited patiently and sure enough, on a drive to the grocery store, my son was singing the melody out loud all on his own in the back car seat...fully recalling the name of the company with a smile on his face.  Now that's value!!! Would this have happened with an email campaign or a printed ad?   Are your ads "Kid Test" approved?

How is your advertising resonating with your audience?  Are you sold expensive ad spend marketing through social media and printed display ads based solely on the amount of impressions they are promising? Or, are you more focused on how your advertising efforts are resonating specifically with your audience?  -Casey The Audio Cowboy
